Hi, I am having problems with offline files on ALL of the 250 laptops on our network, I have had this problem ever since changing over to Server 2008 r2 / Windows 7 Pro, it seemed to work fine with Server 2003 Std / Windows XP Pro. My setup is as follows : Server 2008 R2, Server has Buffalo San plugged into it by ethernet, network user drives are mapped to server via iscsi, home-folders-staff is a folder on the iscsi drive that is shared, and added to a DFS namespace called PROFILES, so the end result for the path to documnts for each user is : \\tower.com\profiles\home-folders-staff\USERNAME\Documents The first time a user logs in to a freshly imaged windows 7 pro pc in the sync center they get the error message 'Sync Failed, The parameter is incorrect.'. It gives this error for all users logged onto the laptop, and also any laptop connected. if I go to the sync center and try to make a file offline, lets say file : \\tower.com\profiles\home-folders-staff\USERNAME\Documents\report.doc I right click on the file, go to sync, then to sync selected offline file. I then go to the sync center and the following error is displayed : Sync Started Sync Started With Offline Files report.doc ( \\tower.com\profiles\home-folders-staff\USERNAME\Document) The Parameter Is Incorrect Sync Failed Sync Failed With Offline Files Everyone has all rights assigned to the share \\tower.com\profiles\home-folders-staff Everyone has all rights assigned to the share \\tower.com\profiles\home-folders-staff\USERNAME

Hi, Since all users have the problem, the issue should be on the server side. Based on my experience, the error "The parameter is incorrect" will occur if the shared path is too long. I suggest you to try other file shares on the file server which path is shorter. Also you can try to reduce the shared path to see if it works. Best Regards Scott Xie

One thing I have noticed is if I clear all the errors, manually click on a folder in the users profile, e.g Desktop and right click sync it comes up in the sync center with $RECYCLE.BIN (\\tower.com\profiles\home-folders-staff\USERNAME\Documents) The parameter is incorrect.09/10/2012 12:01 Offline Files If I just go to View sync partnerships, then right click on offline files and click Sync Offline Files , in View sync results is then logged : profiles (\\tower.com) The parameter is incorrect. Sync Failed Sync with offline files Sync Started Sync started with offline files I have tried adding an exclusion in the domain group policy and also gpedit.msc to exclude *.BIN and *.bin files from the offline files, but it still does it anyway and seems to ignore this setting.
